Both pics were taken in 1974. I have another set of pics showing the 911 in Batu Tiga when I was doing a few fun laps but I can't find them. Will post them here if they surface in one of my drawers. By the way, after I traded in the 911 for the Beemer in 1976, I never saw this Porsche again. If anyone knows of its present whereabouts, please tell me.

My 911S Targa had the Sportronic transmission which I believe was the precursor to the later Triptronic. There was no foot clutch pedal and to change gears I just shifted the gear stick which had the same gates as the manual version. The pressure of the hand on the gear shift knob activated the gear changes. Even though technically, the Sportronic version of the 911S was marginally slower than the manual version, in reality (and especially during street races), the Sportronic helped to change gears much faster and that was mighty useful to see off challengers like the BMW 2002Tii and one particular souped up Datsun 240Z.
